I am writing this letter of recommendation for Dennis Papadopoulos further to the assistance he has provided as my Teaching Assistant for Philosophy1000. Dennis is extremely organized and dedicated to his work and takes his job very seriously. I met with Dennis on many occasions, both in tutorials and during his office hours, where he was very helpful in explaining and clarifying complex concepts from the course material.
Dennis provided my tutorial group with a great overview and insight into the lectures but also did a great job lecturing and establishing a rapport with students. He conducted tutorials in a well-planned manner. Dennis has excellent written and verbal communication skills in helping me understand concepts, given English is not my first language. Dennis was very kind, passionate, and patient with me and went out of his way to ensure I thoroughly understood his answers to my questions. For example, when assisting me to understand the application of complex philosophical theories to finish my assignments, Dennis worked with me one-on-one and improved my grade point average. Dennis’s assistance has been integral to keeping me on track, especially since I’m not a philosophy major.
I found Dennis’s feedback to my essays and assignments very useful and significantly improved my understanding of the material and approach to assignments. During my studies at York I’ve had many TA’s but I feel that he is a fantastic role-model for other TA’s. He went above and beyond to assist me with my coursework. Dennis has always been professional and took initiative and made it clear he would make time to help me and other students.
